These days, no college football player is ever truly locked in at whatever school they’re currently attending. The transfer portal gives them incredible power to change their playing situation, and potential financial standing, in the blink of an eye. Sometimes, though, the best move a player can make is staying put. That’s what Red Morgan is doing.

According to Yea Alabama, Morgan will be staying with the Crimson Tide for the 2026 season. The rising junior defensive back started 5 games in 2025 and made 26 tackles this year.

While Morgan’s return is beneficial for Alabama‘s secondary, it could be more so for the team’s receiving corps. Morgan was high school teammates with former Auburn wideout Cam Coleman, who is in the transfer portal.

Coleman recently visited Tuscaloosa — and a host of other institutions — this week. If he were to join the Crimson Tide, he and Ryan Williams would combine to create one of the best wide receiver duos in the country.

The 2026 season is an important one for Kalen DeBoer. Fans are less than pleased about the way Alabama looked in the Rose Bowl versus Indiana. Reports have emerged that confidence in his ability to win a national championship is waning. Adding Coleman to the roster and making a deep run could be critical for his long-term viability as the Crimson Tide head coach.
