Texas A&M is down an offensive lineman before summer/fall practice starts in a few weeks.
According to 247Sports’ Brian Perroni, 4-star freshman offensive lineman Jordan Jefferson has retired from football. Jefferson has been dealing with some injuries, and it’s likely it will be a medical retirement. However, that hasn’t been confirmed yet. If he retires for medical reasons, he will still be on scholarship but won’t be counted toward the 85-man scholarship limit.
Jefferson enrolled at Texas A&M in January in hopes of getting a spring practice under his belt, but that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Navasota, Texas, native was rated a 3-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 29 center and the state of Texas’ No. 200 prospect for the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was the lowest rated member of Texas A&M’s 2020 signing class.
He originally committed to Texas A&M back in February of 2017 and didn’t sign until December 18, 2020.
