Current Tennessee (and former Penn State) defensive coordinator Bob Shoop is being sued by the Nittany Lions, according to PennLive.

In court documents received by the media outlet, the university alleges that Shoop owes it $891,856 for leaving early, and Penn State doesn’t expect Shoop to pay up either.

Shoop left for Tennessee in January of 2016, and the school says his contract stipulated that if he left before February 15, 2018, he’d have to pay 50 percent of his base pay for the remainder of the contract. That amount almost totals $900,000.

According to the report, Shoop hasn’t paid anything and is refusing to pay anything.

When Shoop was hired at Tennessee, it was his decision to keep the Vols out of the buyout, and at the time, athletic director Dave Hart commented on it.

“He was willing to handle that,” Hart told GoVols247. “And we were able to move forward then in a very rapid fashion to try to get something, which we were able to do.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a lawsuit like this. Remember, LSU is suing Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis for basically the same reason.
