Georgia releases statement, updates Richard LeCounte’s status following scary motor-vehicle accident

While this all sounds bad, it appears things could have been much worse for Richard LeCounte.
If you missed the news, Georgia’s preseason All-American safety was involved in an off-the-field incident Saturday night following the Bulldogs’ return from Lexington and had to be taken to the hospital.
Georgia has just now officially confirmed the news and noted that LeCounte is still in the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery. That’s the good news.
The bad news is there’s still no word on how long LeCounte will have to remain in the hospital.
Here is the statement issued by Georgia on Sunday regarding LeCounte’s current status:
“Richard LeCounte was injured in a motor-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Athens. He was transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center where he was treated in the trauma center. He is still in the hospital for further medical care. His injuries are not life-threatening and a full recovery is expected.
“We would like to thank the emergency medical technicians, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel who helped care for Richard. Richard’s family would also like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and well-wishes during this time.”
