Robert Griffin III knows something about Heisman candidates. After all, it takes one to know one, right?
RG3 listed off his top 5 Heisman contenders enter Week 12. For the 2nd straight week, Michigan running back Blake Corum took home the top spot after another 100+ rushing yard performance. Others included North Carolina’s Drake Maye, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and TCU’s Max Duggan.

Hooker, the SEC’s lone representative on Griffin’s list, might have the most to gain in the coming 2 weeks. With matchups against South Carolina and Vanderbilt, his numbers could explode both through the air and on the ground. South Carolina features the 28th-ranked pass defense in the nation (194 yards per game) and the No. 113th-ranked run defense (192 yards per game).
Meanwhile, the Commodores are allowing 164.1 yards per game on the ground and 293.5 yards per game through the air. Vanderbilt has allowed 44 touchdowns through 10 games as well.
Hooker, who could help Tennessee finish with 11 wins for the first time since 2001, has thrown for 2,888 yards and 24 touchdowns, while completing 71.1% of his passes. He also has rushed for 405 yards and scored 5 touchdowns on the ground.
Corum, RG3’s top option, is currently on a 7-game streak where he’s rushed for over 100 yards per outing. He currently ranks 4th in among FBS players in rushing yards (1,349) and 2nd in rushing touchdowns (17). Maye, Griffin’s No. 2 option, leads the FBS in passing touchdowns (34) and ranks 3rd in passer rating (178.9) behind Stroud and Hooker.
