Robinson’s high school coach reacts following his former player’s arrest
By now you likely know all about the arrest of Alabama junior left tackle Cam Robinson and junior reserve defensive backย Laurence โHootieโ Jones and the serious charges Robinson likely faces following the arrests.
Nick Saban hasn’t said much, opting instead to release a carefully-worded public release the school’s public relations firm undoubtedly wroteย up following the arrests:
โWe are aware of the situation involving Hootie Jones and Cam Robinson and are in the process of gathering facts to determine what internal actions need to be taken.โ
While Robinson’s college head coach may not be willing to say anything, his high school spoke to The News Starย expressed his disappoint following the arrest.
โAll of us areย heartbroken and Iโm so very sad it happened,โ West Monroe head coach Jerry Arledge said. โWe as coaches do all that we can to teach these kids that when they leave our building, wherever it is youโre going, that you think before you act.
โWhen you make a mistake like Cam did itโll cost you and I hate it for him.โ
Arledge’s words deep cut, as Robinson could face significant penalties if indeed he is to be charged with a felony crime for possessing a stolen weapon. What that means for his promising future remains to be seen but hopefully his hopes of becoming a top NFL draft pickย won’t be derailed following his first and only offense in Tuscaloosa.
