Rose Bowl demolition of Notre Dame triggers flood of reaction to Alabama, Nick Saban’s dominance

Some time has passed, but not much on the field or the scoreboard has changed a whole lot since the last time Alabama and Notre Dame met.

Alabama beat Notre Dame 42-14 in the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7, 2013. This time, at the Rose Bowl in Arlington, Texas, the Crimson Tide rolled up another rout, 31-14. The Crimson Tide are now one win away from Nick Saban’s sixth national championship, as Saban’s teams improved to 13-5 in postseason games.

In their ninth appearance in the College Football Playoff, Alabama used the combination that has excelled all season: Dynamic plays from Najee Harris and DeVonta Smith, and a suffocating defense to build a big lead and coast.

Alabama improved to 12-0 as it handed Notre Dame its second loss of the season.
