Following his offseason arrest in connection with a felony assault, Alabama redshirt sophomore defensive back Deionte Thompson missed the Crimson Tide’s entire spring practice after being excused from the team.

At the time of the incident, head coach Nick Saban released the following statement indicating the team would continue to investigate the matter before making a judgment on Thompson’s future with the program:

“We are still in the process of gathering all the facts in Deionte’s situation. He has been excused today to cooperate with law enforcement in this matter. Once we have a better understanding of what happened, we will make a determination as to what needs to be done in terms of the appropriate course of action moving forward.”

Two months later, it appears Alabama didn’t find anything of note, as Saban confirmed Thompson is back with the team, according to Rainer Sabin of AL.com. When asked about the defensive back, who was rated as the nation’s No. 2 overall safety in the 2015 recruiting cycle, the Alabama coach suggested there was ‘a lot of nothing’ to the situation.

“It seemed like a lot of nothing with everything we can find out about,” Saban said Thursday at the Nick’s Kid Golf Tournament at Old Overton Club in Alabama.

Judging by Saban’s comment, it’s safe to assume Thompson will remain on the team moving forward unless any new information arises that the team is unaware of following its investigation into the matter.
