There were already more than enough storylines surrounding LSU‘s trip to battle Ole Miss in Oxford this weekend, but a new one has been thrown into the mix.
The SEC‘s initial injury reports were revealed Wednesday evening, and in a surprise listing, Tigers’ starting quarterback Sam Leavitt was placed under the ‘Doubtful’ category.
If Leavitt is unable to suit up Saturday night, either USC transfer Husan Longstreet or Elon transfer Landen Clark would take over behind center for Lane Kiffin‘s offense.
Leavitt battled injuries while at Arizona State and there were some concerns as to whether or not he would be 100% entering the season, but his listing as doubtful for one of the biggest games on LSU’s schedule is certainly surprising.
Now, this has led many to speculate that Kiffin is merely creating some smoke and mirrors in hopes of distracting his opponents before kickoff, especially considering the history he has with Ole Miss.
Leavitt is coming off a game against Louisiana Tech in which he threw for 344 yards and a touchdown but also tossed 3 interceptions, including a pick-six.
Clark and Longstreet have each played sparingly thus far, with the former having attempted 10 passes and carried the ball 7 times while the latter has thrown just once, although it was a 33-yard completion.
