Sam Leavitt’s 3 interceptions draw Lane Kiffin’s ire at halftime of Louisiana Tech-LSU bout

The LSU Tigers were the runaway national champions — in the minds of some — after their Week 1 demolition of the Clemson Tigers. If the Tigers were riding high, they’ve been humbled a bit in Week 2.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt tossed three interceptions in the first half of the Tigers’ game vs. Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs’ lone points came in Leavitt’s second pick, which was returned 100 yards for a touchdown.
In all, the Bayou Bengals had four first-half turnovers. Two of Leavitt’s interceptions came in the red zone. At halftime, head coach Lane Kiffin acknowledged “one side” of his football team was not playing up to its standard, saying, “we gotta get things right.”
LSU led Louisiana Tech at the break because of its exceptional defense. Despite trailing only 10-7, the Bulldogs had more points (7) than total yards (0) at halftime.
The Tigers forced a punt to open the second half, and began its ensuing possession at their own 48-yard line. They were not able to score a touchdown, though, stalling out at Louisiana Tech’s 6-yard line. Scott Starzyk then connected on a 25-yard field goal to give LSU a 13-7 advantage.
