Scott Van Pelt wanted to make his point, and he had his longtime ESPN buddy “Stanford Steve” Coughlin alongside.

On Van Pelt’s podcast on Monday morning, the SportsCenter anchor blasted people who had the audacity to complain that actor Timothée Chalamet was the guest picker for the famous pick segment during College GameDay on Saturday morning.

In other words, get over yourselves, Van Pelt told the fans who didn’t believe Chalamet was worthy of being on a football pick segment. Stick to acting, kid? No way, said Van Pelt, with “Stanford Steve” in absolute agreement.

“This isn’t who’s teaching your kid. This isn’t who’s operating on your knee. It’s a pick segment,” said Van Pelt.

Van Pelt wasn’t done venting though.

“How miserable are you? … You’ll be mad about anything,” said Van Pelt, noting that Chalamet was the only picker who took Ohio to beat Miami (Ohio) in the MAC Championship Game on Saturday. Sure enough, Chalamet was correct, as the Bobcats cruised to a 38-3 victory for their first conference title since 1968.

Take that, said Van Pelt, who was also a little mad at himself for going through social media enough to find the people he was complaining about himself.

Talk about irony, something Chalamet would know something about as an actor.
