SEC assistants rumored to be in the mix for open Florida Atlantic job

With a 9-27 record in three seasons at the helm, it’s no surprise Charlie Partridge was fired by Florida Atlantic University on Sunday.
The former Arkansas assistant coach finished 3-9 with the Owls this year and ended the season with a 77-56 loss at Middle Tennessee.
Speculation has already begun as to who should replace Partridge, with several SEC assistants rumored to be in the mix.
Two of the SEC assistant coaches that should be in the mix to land the now-vacant job are Florida DC Geoff Collins and Alabama offensive line coach Mario Cristobal, according USA TODAY’s Dan Wolken.
The two names that come to mind immediately for FAU are Geoff Collins and Luke Fickell, but lots of assistants will try to get in the mix

FAU plays in the Conference USA East Division. The Owls finished last in the division in 2016 with a 2-6 record.
