SEC officials have discussed allowingย alcohol to be sold at sporting events to the general public. Still, permitting such sales appear to be far away.

It’s possible thatย beer and other alcoholic beverages like wine could be available for all spectatorsย at games in the future. Alcohol already can be bought in premium seating areas at some locations, but talks continue about whether such drink options should be made more widely available.

โ€œThere are different perspectives,โ€ SEC commissioner Greg Sankeyย told SEC Country.

As a one-year experiment, the NCAA has approved beer and wine to be sold this year in general seating areasย at the College World Series and the Women’s College World Series. You can bet the results will be tracked closely.

โ€œWeโ€™ll continue to talk about what might be happening with some baseball circumstances, and see if we need to engage in some additional clarification,โ€ Sankey said. โ€œBut no wholesale conversation about selling beer in some stadiums.โ€
