SEC WEEK 3 NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
QUARTERBACKS
- Bo Wallace, Ole Miss (23-28, 316 yards passing, 4 TD, INT vs. Louisiana Lafayette) — The nation’s leader in completion percentage at 75.5, Wallace added four more touchdowns to his total (9) during a secondary dissection of the Ragin’ Cajuns.
- Dylan Thompson, South Carolina (21-30, 271 yards passing, 3 TD, INT vs. Georgia) — Steve Spurrier centered much of his first-half game plan around his senior quarterback who tossed three touchdown passes in the first 30 minutes. His 3-inch keeper at midfield in the final 90 seconds sealed the win.
- Maty Mauk, Mizzou (14-24, 144 yards passing, 4 TD, INT vs. UCF) — Mauk continued his elite early-season assault with four more touchdown passes, giving him a college football-leading 12 after three games.
- Dak Prescott, Mississippi State (364 yards total offense, 3 TD — pass, rush, receiving — at South Alabama) — The triple threat Saturday against South Alabama, Prescott scored on a 24-yard reception, had a touchdown during another 100-plus yard rushing performance and threw a touchdown pass during the Bulldogs’ blowout win.
RUNNING BACKS
- Alex Collins, Arkansas (27 carries, 212 yards, 2 TD at Texas Tech) — This sophomore’s career-high outburst was the SEC’s top outing for a running back thus far this season.
- Jonathan Williams, Arkansas (22 carries, 145 yards, 4 TD Texas Tech) — A four-touchdown machine, Williams picked up a third of the Razorbacks’ 438 yards on the ground against a Texas Tech team that couldn’t handle the physicality up front.
- Matt Jones, Florida (29 carries, 156 yards, TD vs. Kentucky) — For the second consecutive season, Jones stiff armed, juked and drove through the Wildcats with a stellar performance. His lone touchdown came in the third overtime from a yard out to clinch the victory.
WIDE RECEIVERS
- Demarcus Robinson, Florida (15 catches, 216 yards, 2 TD vs. Kentucky) — It appears a No. 1 wide receiver has risen from an on-again, off-again group in Gainesville. Kentucky had no answers for No. 11 who seemed to move the chains after every reception.
- Garrett Johnson, Kentucky (6 catches, 154 yards, 2 TD at Florida) — A true freshman with speed to burn on the outside, Johnson got behind the Florida defense twice for long touchdowns during the third quarter.
