Two weeks, two ranked matchups serving as College Football Playoff-eliminators for SEC Nation.
After the SEC Network’s traveling pregame show visited Norman for Oklahoma and Ole Miss’ clash last Saturday, it announced that it would be taking its production to Austin on Saturday for Texas’ date with Diego Pavia and red-hot Vanderbilt.
Marty & McGee will kick things off at 9 a.m. EST, with SEC Nation to follow at 10 a.m.. The game will kick off at noon on ABC.
The Commodores, fresh off back-to-back ranked wins over LSU and Missouri, own a 7-1 overall record and plenty of championship aspirations, while the Longhorns just gutted out another overtime road win (this time over Mississippi State) and are desperate for a statement victory that can propel them back into the CFP picture.
Last year’s meeting saw Texas earn a 27-24 road bounce-back win over Vanderbilt on its way to reaching the CFP, making vengeance another potential storyline for Pavia & Co. in this game.
With a second loss dropping the ‘Dores out of the SEC title race and a third defeat certainly dooming the Longhorns’ postseason hopes, this game is shaping up to be a de facto elimination game when it comes to both sides’ playoff aspirations.
