After College GameDay chose to go to the Big Ten in Week 5, SEC Nation had an obvious destination. The SEC Network’s traveling pregame show will highlight the latest chapter in the Alabama-Georgia rivalry.

The Week 5 SEC slate includes highly anticipated matchups like Auburn-Texas A&M and LSU-Ole Miss. Any other week, College Station or Oxford would be crawling with SEC Nation‘s personalities ahead of kickoff to an exciting ranked-on-ranked matchup. When the SEC’s true juggernauts are about doing battle, though, there’s nowhere else you can go.

Sunday morning, the SEC Network took to Twitter/X and revealed SEC Nation will be coming to Athens in Week 5 for Alabama at Georgia. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs, who have combined for 10 of the last 11 SEC Championships and captured 3 of the last 5 national titles, will be duking it out for the seventh time since 2018 on Saturday.

Last year, on this same weekend, Alabama and Georgia provided an instant classic in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide jumped out to a 28-0 lead, but the Bulldogs fought their way back and held a 34-33 advantage late in the fourth quarter. Then, Ryan Williams put himself on the map.

Alabama has won 6 of 7 meetings with Georgia since Kirby Smart became the Bulldogs’ head coach. Smart’s lone triumph came in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship, but he’s probably more focused on the 1-6 mark he holds against his former employer than the glory that single win provided.

Shockingly, this is the first time the Crimson Tide have traveled to Athens since 2015. That fact should have an already rowdy Georgia crowd taking things to another level come kickoff at 7:30 p.m. E.T. on Sept. 27 (ABC).
