Further details have not yet been provided.
One of the biggest issues in college football in the last couple of years with NIL is that there weren’t any guardrails, and many of the rules were left up for interpretation. In this agreement, there will be uniform contracts in the SEC, while also having customizable sections for each school.
All of the conferences are having some variation of these types of conversations, as nearly everybody in college sports wants there to be more clarity pertaining towards movement between players. The fact that the SEC presidents are all on the same page on this shows could be a promising sign that more positive changes can happen.
The presidents also tabled a vote on whether to reinstate the intraconference transfer rule requiring players to sit out one season when moving between SEC schools, according to several reporters including Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger.
The lines between amateur and professional blur more and more with each passing day.
