The South Carolina Gamecocks are gearing up for a massive mid-season meeting against the No. 11 LSU Tigers, and they’ll be heading into one of the most hostile environments in the country for the pivotal matchup.

Dubbed “Death Valley,” LSU’s longtime home stadium has been the bane of visiting SEC squads for over a century, and Gamecocks’ head coach Shane Beamer understands the kind of environment his team will be up against on Saturday night.

According to South Carolina insider Jordan Kaye, the fifth-year head coach for the Gamecocks discussed the crowd in Death Valley, noting that it’s pretty much impossible to prepare for.

Per Kaye, Beamer said that while Carolina does pump in crowd noise during practice to prepare for road games, “You can’t simulate a hundred-plus thousand probably heavily intoxicated Louisianans.”

While there’s certainly no simulating the decibel level that the Gamecocks will be facing in Tiger Stadium, Beamer and the rest of his staff will have to do their best to make sure their players are ready to handle what’s sure to be a deafening roar on every offensive possession.

If Carolina can manage to block out the noise, then they just might be able to pull off the shocking upset and silence the crowd in Death Valley.
