Shane Beamer not satisfied with 18-point halftime lead over Oklahoma: ‘Should be 42-0’
In the moment, the South Carolina Gamecocks were dismayed at their 35-34 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats. They blew a 17-point lead in that game and dropped to 2-3 (0-3 SEC) with their defeat. Since then, though, the tide has done a complete-180 in Columbia.
Head coach Shane Beamer‘s team has beaten No. 16 Florida and No. 11 Tennessee in its last two games. His Gamecocks were also well on their way to a third straight triumph this afternoon, courtesy of a 28-10 halftime advantage over the Oklahoma Sooners. Despite this, Beamer is far from thrilled with his squad’s performance.
“We have given [Oklahoma] 10 points. In my mind, [this game] should be 42-0 right now,” Beamer said at halftime in Norman. “We gave them a field goal with the block below the waist by Vicari. We gave them seven [points] on the pick-six.”
Right now, they canโt run the ball. They canโt throw the ball,” Beamer continued. “And [we’ve] got 300 yards of offense against probably the best defense in this league.”
South Carolina posted 322 yards of offense on Oklahoma’s defense in two quarters of play. A whopping 232 of those yards came on the Gamecocks’ three second-quarter touchdown drives. South Carolina is still holding its 28-10 edge roughly halfway through the third quarter. You can watch the Gamecocks and Sooners on SEC Network.
