South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is one of the top prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft. His head coach already has a pro comparison in mind.
During a recent press conference, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer explained Sellers’ reserved leadership style, comparing him to Super Bowl champion quarterback Jalen Hurts.
“Last year, LaNorris hardly ever says a word. We just came from a leadership meeting. We were talking about a lot of things. I said ‘Anything on your mind that you want to talk about?’ He just wanted to talk about what helmets we’re wearing Saturday night,” Beamer said. “He’s got his own leadership style and guys respect him. I was with Jalen Hurts at Oklahoma. Jalen hardly ever said a word.”
If Sellers can emulate Hurts in any capacity it would bode well for his future. Beamer was Oklahoma’s assistant head coach when Hurts was with the Sooners.
The 6-foot-3 Sellers has passed for 733 yards with 4 touchdowns and an interception this season.
Next up for Sellers and South Carolina is a home game vs. Kentucky as they look to snap a 2-game losing streak. South Carolina vs. Kentucky is slated for a 7:45 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday (SEC Network).
