As coronavirus continues to dominate headlines around the globe, it has had a major impact on college athletics, as everything is currently either canceled or postponed.
As schools try to keep the pandemic from reaching their student-athletes, those measures aren’t always going to be successful.
On Friday, South Carolina AD Ray Tanner revealed that at least 1 Gamecock athlete has been tested for the virus (via 247Sports):
“We have one athlete that came from a Level 3 zone that is in quarantine at the present time,” Tanner said, “So self-quarantine, asymptomatic. … That one person, one student-athlete that I know of and one (other) student-athlete that I’m aware of has been tested.”
Of course, being tested and having a positive result are different things, and Tanner said the test results haven’t come in yet.
Still, it’s a situation worth monitoring at South Carolina.
