South Carolina didn’t have to go very far to find a gem of a wide receiver to significantly boost its depth for the 2027 season.

The rebuilding program run by head coach Shane Beamer got a commitment on Friday afternoon from 4-star phenom Jaiden Kelly-Murray, who currently stars for Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mount Pleasant, S.C., which is in the Charleston area.

The 247Sports Composite rankings currently have Kelly-Murray rated as the 35th-best wide receiver in the Class of 2027, so South Carolina is luring a potential gem to Columbia for the 2027 season and possibly beyond. Kelly-Murray listed 30 offers on his plate, including from SEC rival Vanderbilt.

Illinois, Duke and Virginia Tech were also in the mix to land Kelly-Murray, but he’ll be heading down the road a piece next year and staying in SEC country.

Kelly-Murray is rated right now as the 6th-best player from the state of South Carolina, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and he’s currently the 276th-best player overall in the Class of 2027.

South Carolina recently brought in Kelly-Murray for an unofficial visit. It was during the Gamecocks’ first spring practice, so Kelly-Murray got an up-close view of the 2026 South Carolina roster. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is now slated to be part of the 2027 Gamecocks roster.

Kelly-Murray’s commitment to South Carolina adds to a list of 2027 commits that also includes 3-star safety Jernard Albright, who’s from Springfield, Ga., and 3-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain, another Georgia product from Warner Robins.

While South Carolina is trying to rebuild, here is what the Kalshi market currently sees as the top teams in the mix for the 2026 College Football Playoff:
