The South Carolina football program earned a pivotal recruiting flip Tuesday night, as 4-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis switched his commitment from Kentucky to South Carolina.

Rivals reported that the 6-foot-2 Lewis, who had committed to Kentucky on May 9 and took an official visit to Lexington on June 5, de-committed from the Wildcats and flipped to South Carolina following his weekend visit to Columbia.

The sixth-best player in Virginia according to 247 Sports Composite, Lewis turned in a stellar junior season at Huguenot High School in Richmond, Va. – hauling in 42 catches for 1,046 yards (24.9 YPC) and 12 touchdowns en route to earning VHSL Class 4A all-state honors Lewis also recorded a breakout sophomore season that saw him catch 45 passes for 1,069 yards (23.8 YPC) and 14 touchdowns. He also had 26 receptions for 667 yards and 10 scores as a freshman in 2023.

South Carolina now boasts 11 commitments for the 2027 cycle, with Lewis joining fellow wide receivers Javien Robinson and DJ Huggins.

The Gamecocks struggled to a 4-8 overall record and 1-7 mark in SEC play in 2025. South Carolina opens the 2026 season with three straight home games – taking on Kent State on Sept. 5 (12:45 pm ET, SEC Network) and Towson on Sept. 12 (7 pm ET, SEC Network+) before beginning SEC play against Mississippi State on Sept. 19 (4:15 pm ET, SEC Network).
