South Carolina lands commitment from local 2027 LB, son of former Gamecock basketball player

An in-state linebacker is staying home to carry on his father’s South Carolina legacy.
Jackson Ross is the newest Gamecock pledge. He announced his plans to play for Shane Beamer‘s program on Sunday.

Out of the Hammond School in Columbia, South Carolina, Ross is listed as measuring 6-3 and 215 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Ross is rated 3-stars, the No. 13 player in the state of South Carolina, No. 51 linebacker and No. 630 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.
David Ross, Jackson’s father, played basketball for South Carolina from 1997-2001. Jackson Ross considered other schools. He collected 17 scholarship offers leading up to his commitment, and also took official visits to Vanderbilt and Texas Tech in recent weeks.
