Head coach Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks have been very busy early on in the transfer portal window, adding several key additions that figure to be impact players in 2026.
Carolina landed the top offensive tackle in the portal earlier in the week in Jacarrius Park, and they bolstered their offensive attack even further on Friday night by adding former Ohio State running back Sam Williams-Dixon, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
A 3-star recruit in the 2024 cycle, Williams-Dixon committed to his home state program over Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana, and Boston College, among others. He appeared in 4 contests with Ohio State as a true freshman, racking up 53 yards on 7 carries for the national championship-winning Buckeyes.
Williams-Dixon actually entered his name into the transfer portal in December of 2024 as the Buckeyes were in the middle of their CFP run, but withdrew his name after being convinced to stick around for 2025.
Despite the wide-open nature of the Buckeyes’ running back situation entering last offseason, though, Dixon-Williams ended up being buried on the depth chart in Columbus due to the emergence of several other ball carriers. This led to him only seeing action in week 2 against Grambling State, where he got just 3 carries.
Seeing the writing on the wall, Dixon-Williams hit the portal once again following the Buckeyes’ exit in the Cotton Bowl, and he will now be heading down south to join the Gamecocks.
