South Carolina offensive lineman Pika Leota announced he would transfer from the university Wednesday night.

Leota, the redshirt freshman from Asheville, North Carolina, signed with the Gamecocks in the class of 2016 as a 3-star prospect, the No. 104 ranked offensive tackle and the state’s No. 49 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He originally signed with South Carolina over Virginia Tech and others.

“With lots of prayer and talk [sic] with my family I have decided to transfer from the University of South Carolina,” Leota wrote. “I believe I will find my perfect fit at another school and I want to thank everyone again who has been supportive of my journey.”
