South Carolina has confirmed Saturday’s unfortunate news that transfer offensive lineman Jacarrius Peak is dealing with an injury.

Gamecocks insider JC Shurburtt was first to report that Peak was dealing with an injury that could “keep him sidelined for some time.” Matt Zenitz added Saturday evening, “it’s currently feared he’s going to miss at least part of the 2026 season,” citing what sources told CBS Sports.

On Sunday, SEC insider Chris Low shared a statement from South Carolina acknowledging Peak’s injury. The program stated that Peak will miss spring practice but is expected to be available for the season.

Adding Peak was seen as a big get from the transfer portal for Shane Beamer‘s staff this offseason. Peak came to South Carolina after being a 3-year starter at NC State. Regarded as one of the top tackles available in the portal, Peak was an All-ACC honorable mention last season.

South Carolina’s 2026 season begins on Sept. 5 against Kent State. The Gamecocks begin SEC play on Sept. 19 against Mississippi State.
