South Carolina will be dressed for the occasion on New Year’s Eve afternoon in Orlando, as it faces Illinois in the Citrus Bowl with a double-digit win season on the line.
On Tuesday morning, the Gamecocks revealed exactly what they’ll be wearing as they take on the Fighting Illini, who take an identical 9-3 record into their season finale with a similar eye on getting to 10 wins in 2024. South Carolina is listed as the road team, so you would assume the Gamecocks would be wearing their road white jerseys for the bowl game, as they would for a regular-season game.
And you would be right. But they’re taking the white theme all the way for the big bowl game.
Besides wearing white jerseys with red numbers, the Gamecocks will also wear white helmets, which, naturally, will have the Cheez-It logo on the back of the helmet, with Cheez-It being the sponsor of the game. The Cheez-It logo will also adorn South Carolina’s jerseys near the left shoulder pad, with the logo saying “Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.”
As you might guess, the Gamecocks will also wear white pants on Tuesday, and their game towel features the South Carolina logo, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl game logo, along with the date “December 31, 2024” and the site of the game, “Orlando, Florida” on the towel.
The Gamecocks will be dressed for success. Now, it’s just a matter of going out there and beating a very good Illinois team to get to that 10-win plateau. Then South Carolina will really have something to celebrate on New Year’s Eve.
