South Carolina reveals uniform combo for Sunday’s game against Virginia Tech
Shane Beamer and South Carolina are gearing up for one of the most-anticipated seasons in program history, and it all begins with a pivotal non-conference showdown against Virginia Tech on Sunday.
The ACC vs. SEC matchup, which is part of the Aflac Kickoff series, is set to kick off from Atlanta at 3 p.m. ET.
And while the Hokies opted to reveal their uniforms of choice earlier in the week, the Gamecocks elected to unveil their threads just hours before the first snap.
Combating VT’s orange look will be South Carolina in its all-black uniforms:
A notable change to the Gamecock uniforms this season is that the helmet decal has been marginally increased in size to make it stand out more on the helmet.
LaNorris Sellers & Co. will look to get out to a fast start in these sleek uniforms. Beamer’s team likely watched hyped-up SEC counterparts Texas and Alabama fall in disappointing fashion yesterday and would like to avoid a similar fate as they hope for a magical year.
South Carolina faces a Virginia Tech squad that is desperate for a signature win under Brent Pry, and quarterback Kyron Drones is cut from a similar dual-threat cloth as Sellers.
It is also worth noting that this is the first of two SEC opponents the Hokies will face, as they host Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt next week.
