South Carolina will be celebrating a very special thing while it goes about the business of trying to take out Towson on Saturday night in Columbia.

And while the Gamecocks are an enormous favorite over the FCS team from the Coastal Athletic Association, the 7 p.m. ET kickoff on SEC Network+ will introduce to the home fans something they likely will never forget. That’s because Shane Beamer‘s team will be celebrating its mascot, too, with Cocky’s induction into the Mascot Hall of Fame.

The Gamecocks will be wearing special helmet decals for the Week 2 clash, and here is that soon-to-be iconic South Carolina special helmet, which features Cocky himself on the side of it:

According to Wes Mitchell, who covers South Carolina football for On3, these special helmets will only be worn for 1 night, and that night will be Saturday night for the nonconference matchup at Williams-Brice Stadium.

So, that means those fortunate fans in attendance will be the only fans who will ever get to watch South Carolina play live with those Cocky-themed helmets on. The Cocky helmets won’t become part of a permanent rotation, according to Mitchell, who also reported on Saturday that the Gamecock players are “pumped” about the special helmets.

South Carolina will be celebrating its mascot while it also tries to get to 2-0 on the young season. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Gamecocks’ potential win total for the 2026 season:
