The Auburn Tigers are entering a new era on The Plains with the arrival of new head coach Alex Golesh, and that means the team has undergone significant turnover since the transfer portal opened.
A number of key pieces from last season’s squad have already departed from the Tigers on both offense and defense, and even more still are expected to announce their intention to leave before things are all said and done.
While Golesh was unable to convince guys like star wideout Cam Coleman to stick around, he picked up a massive roster victory on Thursday when star running back Jeremiah Cobb officially announced that he will be returning to Auburn for the 2026 campaign.
A highly coveted 4-star recruit in the 2023 cycle, Cobb has been with the Tigers for the past 3 seasons, serving primarily as a backup over his first couple of years with the program while racking up 314 yards and 2 touchdowns in that time.
Cobb burst onto the scene in 2025 for the Tigers, becoming the bell-cow back for former head coach Hugh Freeze’s offense and collecting 969 yards and 5 touchdowns, both of which led the team.
Keeping Cobb in the fold was a massive priority for Golesh and the rest of his staff, and they now have their star running back for 2026 locked down.
