Sterling Webb, Mizzou DT seeking 5th season, receives eligibility update

Eligibility disputes have been at the forefront of the college football news cycle all offseason long, with players across the country seeking court rulings that will allow them to return to their respective schools for a final year of play, or in some cases actually return to the college level after already departing for the NFL.
The Missouri Tigers, who are gearing up for their Week 1 showdown this Saturday against Arkansas Pine-Bluff, have been awaiting an update on veteran defensive tackle Sterling Webb’s attempt to secure a 5th year of eligibility from the NCAA.
Both Webb and the Tigers got massive news on Wednesday morning, with Mizzou beat writer Eli Hoff reporting that the temporary restraining order that Webb has had in place against the NCAA will stay in place due to a ruling by a St. Louis judge.
This means that, at least for the time being, Webb will be allowed to play for the Tigers’ defense as the team looks to build on an 8-5 2025 campaign.
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz was asked about the ruling and responded hilariously, saying, “I just got a tweet … Looks like we’re ready to go. I mean, I don’t know what to tell you. Just wait for tweets — that’s all I do.”
It’s unclear what Webb’s long-term outlook is at this point, but it looks like the 5th-year player will be allowed to suit up for the Tigers on Saturdays, at least for now.
