The 2026 regular season has not gone to plan for Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns.

Texas is now down to its last strike, sitting at 4-2 on the season after suffering back-to-back losses against Oklahoma and Florida. If they want any chance of reaching the College Football Playoff this year, the Longhorns have to turn it around this week ahead of their Week 8 matchup against No. 7 Ole Miss in Austin.

That includes Manning, who committed 3 turnovers across these recent losses — including a turnover on the final drive of each loss, despite Texas having a chance to win it late.

Ahead of the top 25 battle, reporters asked head coach Steve Sarkisian about Manning’s demeanor after posting brutal outings against the Sooners and Gators. Here’s what Sarkisian had to say:

“I would use the word edgy, and I like it. He is edgy right now,” Sarkisian said, via CJ Vogel. “At some point he has to fight back, and the best way for him to fight back is going out and playing really good football with his teammates and enjoy playing football with his teammates.”

Manning is in desperate need of a strong outing. The Longhorns QB has nearly 2 dozen starts under his belt and is objectively regressing as we near the final month of the regular season. While there are still flashes, you have to wade through some pretty inefficient QB play to see it all.

Saturday’s game between the Longhorns and Rebels is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
