Steve Sarkisian and No. 1 Texas saw their undefeated season end on Saturday, as the Longhorns lost, 27-24, to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry. The Longhorns had a chance to drive late for the win, but Arch Manning threw an interception.

John Mateer made two big throws, and Tate Sandell kicked a 47-yard field goal to get the win.

The offense for the Longhorns has been inconsistent for much of the year and leads the SEC in three-and-out rate. Sarkisian was asked after the game if he would give up play-calling duties, and the coach was emphatic in his answer.

“Not a chance,” Steve Sarkisian said.

The Longhorns outgained the Sooners 382 to 238 in total yards. Two of the three Oklahoma touchdowns were an interception return by the defense, as well as a blocked punt.

Arch Manning was 19-of-31 for 260 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw two devastating interceptions in the fourth quarter. The first was returned by Sooners defensive back Peyton Bowen 42 yards for a touchdown, with the second one setting the Sooners up for the field goal.

There is still a lot of season left for the Longhorns, but the offense has been very inconsistent. Outside of a fourth quarter explosion against Ohio State, it hasn’t been dominant for the Longhorns.

Up next is a game at home against a Florida team that knocked off the Longhorns last season in Gainesville.
