In a lot of ways, college athletics has become the wild, wild west.

Just after Arkansas basketball head coach John Calipari spoke out on the lack of consistent eligibility protocols, Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian voiced his displeasure with another seemingly unchecked aspect of the college game today: Agents.

Sarkisian was asked about the process that goes into constructing rosters in the NIL era, which led him to talking about the difficulties in negotiating with some agents as a significant challenge to overcome when building a roster. “There are some agents that are rational, and there are some agents that this is the first time ever being an agent,” Sarkisian said. “I don’t know if they are even licensed to be an agent, and all of a sudden they get to be agents because we have no certification process in college football.”

Sarkisian even mentioned that he’ll probably be on the phone with an agent that he’ll be unable to entertain to because of the money it would take to even have the conversation.

Here’s more from Sarkisian on this topic:

Texas football faces Michigan in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Wednesday, which kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.
