It’s no secret that fans and college programs alike are a little ticked off with Texas Tech at the moment.

The Red Raiders have stood by incoming transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby amid his admission of a longtime gambling issue, which included placing bets on games despite being a member of the Cincinnati and Indiana football teams. Every other instance of an athlete doing this across the history of sports has resulted in that athlete’s permanent loss of eligibility.

Not Sorsby, though. The Red Raiders QB was granted a preliminary injunction on Monday of this week, meaning the NCAA is restricted from enforcing its ruling that Sorsby cannot play in 2026.

Texas Tech, surely coming at this issue with zero bias whatsoever, released a 20-minute video message on social media Thursday night, explaining their point of view and answering FAQs in a roundtable discussion. Speakers in the video are HC Joey McGuire, AD Kirby Hocutt, President Lawrence Schovanec and Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Well-Being Grant Stovall.

The video includes Texas Tech’s administration insisting it was not a party in Sorsby’s legal case while also asserting that the best thing for Sorsby is to be back with his teammates, where he can be held accountable and move forward from his gambling addiction. Texas Tech, throughout the video, reiterated that the primary focus of the entire situation is to support Sorsby, and McGuire specifically noted that Sorsby’s status is currently day-to-day.

As you can probably guess, social media would rather flame the Red Raiders than watch a 20-minute video of the program attempting to explain itself. TCU posted perhaps the most hilarious reaction to the video on Thursday night:
