Baron’s departure is a huge loss for Tennessee. He finished tied for 11th in the SEC in sacks this season. He was also second on the team in that category behind only James Pearce Jr.
Baron will likely now become one of the most sought-after defensive transfers in the country. He only has 1 more year of eligibility remaining, but has been a consistent force as a pass rusher in the SEC. He’s recorded least 6 tackles for loss in each of the past 3 seasons.
Baron is the 7th Tennessee player to enter the transfer portal so far this offseason. That number will likely continue to rise over the coming weeks.
Tennessee is expected to be aggressive in the portal this offseason as it attempts to build out its roster for the 2024 season.
