Texas A&M added a commitment from one of the top 5 highest-rated quarterbacks in the Class of 2028 on Saturday. Detroit-based QB Donald Tabron II has committed to Texas A&M over LSU and Ohio State, alongside more offers from Auburn, Michigan State, Oregon, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
Tabron attends Cass Technical high school and is set to enter his junior season with a 23-1 record as a starter. Last season, Tabron totaled 2,819 passing yards with 35 total touchdowns.

Tabron is the second commitment of the 2028 cycle alongside 3-star pass rusher Chance Archangel. He’s considered a 5-star prospect by 247Sports’ composite rankings, which rank Tabron as the No. 29 overall prospect in the Class of 2028 and the No. 3 quarterback.
Tabron told ESPN on Saturday that Aggies OC Holmon Wiggins and quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch played a part in his decision to choose Texas A&M.
“As soon as [Wiggins and Lynch] got their jobs in January, they’ve been in communication with me ever since,” Tabron said. “It’s been consistent from then to now. And then I’ve been there three times this year. Being able to see it in person, going for a game last year and just being able to build a really good relationship with them made the difference.”
