Texas A&M sophomore defensive end James Lockhart is leaving the program, according to a report from 247Sports.com.
“James is looking for a new start and somewhere where he fits a little bit better,” his father said Monday evening. “He just wants to look at everywhere out there and see what scheme he fits in and where he will be happy.”
Lockhart (6-foot-2, 260 pounds) was a highly-touted four-star prospect and the No. 10 overall strong-side end from the 2015 recruiting class. He appeared in all 12 games for the Aggies throughout the 2016 regular season, tallying eight tackles (one for loss).
A native of Ennis, Tex., Lockhart chose A&M over Alabama and Baylor during his recruitment, among many other interested institutions who could still obtain his services.
