Head coach Mike Elko appears to be well on his way to turning Texas A&M into a factory for producing top-tier defensive linemen, and transfer-portal prospects are certainly taking notice of that trend.

The school that produced current NFL sacks champion Myles Garrett is set to put even more Aggie D-linemen into the NFL this year–headlined by end Cashius Howell–and other players are eager to become next up in College Station.

Illinois’ Angelo McCullom is one of such athletes, as 247Sports’ Allen Trieu reported that the Pickerington, Ohio product committed to join Texas A&M on Sunday.

At 6-foot-2, 290 lbs. McCullom appeared sparingly in 2024 before making more of an impact this past fall. McCullom tallied 19 total tackles, 2 pass breakups and 1.5 sacks this season, with that sack mark coming in a win over Purdue. His season-high of tackles was 4, which came against Washington on Oct. 25.

McCullom will likely be asked to step in and fill a sizable role for the Aggies in 2026. Elko’s defense continues to experience great turnover up front given the immense talent that resides there seemingly every year, and thus the portal appears to be the program’s strategy to address that consistent turnover.
