Texas A&M suffered a big blow on the recruiting trail on Friday.
The Aggies lost a commitment from 4-star quarterback Anthony Maddox. A Mississippi native, Maddox had been committed to Texas A&M since February of this year.
He shared his decision with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday:

Maddox has been evaluating his options since Texas A&M parted ways with head coach Jimbo Fisher earlier this year. Maddox has taken visits to both Ole Miss and Mississippi State this month.
His decision comes just before the beginning of the Early Signing Period. Prospects will be able to officially sign with their chose college programs beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Maddox is a big loss for Texas A&M. He’s the No. 427 overall player and the No. 28 quarterback in the country for this recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Texas A&M does have another quarterback committed in this class — 3-star quarterback Miles O’Neill. He has been committed to Texas A&M since June.
Texas A&M is now down to 14 commits in the 2024 recruiting cycle. The Aggies are likely to try to add to this class over the coming weeks and months as Mike Elko’s staff puts in more work on the trail. As it currently stands, A&M’s class is No. 20 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
