Texas A&M off to program’s best start in SEC, best in conference play this century
Texas A&M served notice for the 7th straight time that it didn’t enjoy losing at home to Notre Dame in prime time to open the season.
Because since that ugly loss to the Fighting Irish, the 14th-ranked Aggies have been 1 of the best teams in the country, and they showed a national TV audience on Saturday night that they might just be a College Football Playoff contender with a 38-23 victory over No. 8 LSU at a rocking Kyle Field.
The win got the Aggies to 7-1, sent a firm message and made some history, too. Texas A&M is now 5-0 in SEC play for the 1st time ever and is 5-0 in conference play for the 1st time since 1998, when the Aggies called the Big 12 home.
.@AggieFootball are 5-0 in SEC play for the first time & 5-0 in conference play overall for the 1st time since 1998.

Texas A&M is sure to move up in Sunday’s new AP Poll, and at the same time the Aggies put a serious damper on LSU’s Playoff hopes.
On Saturday, it was Marcel Reed to the rescue, as the backup quarterback replaced an ineffective Conner Weigman with Texas A&M down 17-7 at halftime. Reed simply took over the game in the 2nd half, running for 3 touchdowns, the last of which gave the Aggies a 28-17 lead early in the 4th quarter.
Texas A&M never looked back, reaching new heights in the SEC.
