Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson has avoided “catastrophic injury” after leaving the team’s 41-40 victory over Notre Dame late in the first half, according to the university.

The Aggies released a statement on Anderson via social media (Twitter/X) late Wednesday morning. They revealed Anderson “traveled home with the team Saturday night” and underwent “further evaluation by [Texas A&M] medical staff” since arrival back in College Station.

Anderson was injured while tackling Fighting Irish tight end Eli Raridon. The senior out of Beaumont, TX has spent his entire collegiate career with the Aggies. He had notched a season-high 4 combined tackles against Notre Dame prior to his injury.

On Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference, head coach Mike Elko said Anderson “skated through what could have been a really, really bad situation.” He added that Texas A&M expects to have Anderson back this season, but is not sure exactly when he’ll return.

The Aggies improved to 3-0 and jumped to No. 10 in the AP poll following their win in South Bend. The entire roster has their Week 4 bye to recover from the game — and fright surrounding Anderson — before looking ahead to a home clash with No. 22 Auburn on Sept. 27. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
