Texas added a top defensive line transfer to its 2025 roster on Wednesday morning.
The Longhorns have earned a commitment from former Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu. That’s according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

Kanu spent 3 seasons with the Buckeyes, but was largely a reserve defensive lineman. Ohio State has been loaded up front for the past few seasons, but Kanu was able to carve out a role as a rotation player on the D-line. He has 14 tackles and 1 sack over the past 2 years.
At Texas, Kanu will hope to find more playing time moving forward. Kanu played 123 snaps for the Buckeyes in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus.
Kanu does have the pedigree to show he can be a big-time contributor at the collegiate level. The California native was a 4-star prospect when he initially signed with the Buckeyes back in the class of 2022. He was the No. 129 overall player in that class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Texas has added 5 transfers this offseason so far. Three of those players are defensive lineman, so it seems that’s an area Texas has been focused on improving for the 2025 campaign.
