The LSU program is once again looking to Lubbock, Texas to help solve depth issues on its football roster. After landing Texas Tech transfer defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko last month, the Tigers now look to be closing in on potentially landing his former teammate, receiver Jonathan Giles.

Giles released his list of Top 10 schools this week, which included LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee, but it appears the Tigers have an advantage over the other SEC programs at the moment. Giles recently tweeted out his upcoming plans to visit the LSU campus. Considering the Tigers have only eight scholarship receivers on the current roster, very few of which have any meaningful playing experience, adding a difference maker of Giles’ caliber would be a huge lift to the program.

Last season, Giles caught 69 passes for 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore for Texas Tech. He wouldn’t be eligible until the 2018 season but could serve as a suitable replacement for LSU’s rising senior receiver D.J. Chark.

According to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports, Giles plans to announce his commitment not long after his scheduled visit to Baton Rouge. If the Tigers can impress him on the visit like they did with Fehoko, it stands to reason LSU could soon have two former Texas Tech players on the roster next season.

Judging by his college highlight reel, Giles would be an immediate upgrade to LSU when he’s eligible to hit the field once again.
