Texas wide receiver Parker Livingstone had a major impact on the Longhorns’ first victory of the season, a 38-7 win vs. visiting San Jose State in Week 2. The Texas native was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week and now there’s more information on 1 of his top plays.
According to Reel Analytics, the 6-foot-4 Parker ran at a clip of 20.3 miles per hour for his 83-yard reception in the first quarter of the victory, the seventh fastest in Week 2.
Livingstone finished with 4 receptions for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. His other touchdown was also in the first quarter on a 3-yard pass from Arch Manning. Livingstone is the third Texas player to ever have multiple touchdown receptions in a first quarter in the last 3 decades, per Longhorns Wire.
Livingstone’s 128 receiving yards also ranked No. 11 all-time for a Texas freshman. He is Texas’ No. 1 receiver this season with 175 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.
Livingstone arrived at Texas as the No. 97 in-state prospect and No. 106 wide receiver in the nation, according to 247Sports. If he keeps this up, Parker will certainly make those rankings look foolish.
Livingstone and No. 7 Texas will aim for a winning streak when the Longhorns host UTEP on Saturday (4:15 p.m. ET/SEC Network).
