The Tennessee Volunteers are set to kick off their 2025 campaign this Saturday against the Syracuse Orange down in Atlanta, and they will have several talented players all along their roster looking to make an impact.

One player in particular has the Vols’ defensive coordinator, Tim Banks, very excited, and that would be senior cornerback Jalen McMurray, who Banks recently said he thinks will have a “monster year” in the Tennessee secondary.

McMurray, who transferred into the program ahead of the 2024 season, is one of the most experienced players on the Volunteers’ defense regardless of position, and appeared in all 13 games for Tennessee in his first year with the team.

He racked up 14 total tackles and four pass break-ups across the entire year and made one start against Chattanooga in the season opener.

Now that he has a year of experience in Tennessee’s system under his belt, McMurray will be expected to slide into a full-time starting role in 2025, and it’s very clear that his DC has a ton of faith in the former Temple Owl.

It will be interesting to see what McMurray can bring to the table for the Vols in 2025, and whether or not he can live up to the billing that Banks has given to him.
