Former Alabama running back Derrick Henry will be an interesting player to watch in the NFL this season.

No doubt he’s talented and has all the tools — big, fast and physical — but Titans coach Mike Mularky had some constructive criticism for the former Heisman Trophy winner Thursday.

โ€œI will say this about Derrick: I don’t think he’s a fast starter,โ€ coach Mike Mularkey said, via the Tennessean. โ€œI’ve got to talk to him about that tempo period because we’ve got a bunch of guys up front that are creating things for him and he’s not hitting it like I’d like to see him hit it.

โ€œI hope that’s not the case in games. We need him to be full strength. As soon as we call his number, he needs to hit things better.โ€

Mularky has evidently relayed that to Henry, who says he needs to play faster.

โ€œI just need to improve. And thatโ€™s just me playing faster,โ€ Henry said. โ€œI think that will get better as training camp goes along. Itโ€™s something I need to work on.โ€

While Demarco Murray is the team’s starting running back and the workhorse, the Titans will no doubt use Henry as a part of the offense. They’re currently trying to figure out his strengths and use him in the best role for 2016.
