Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL.
Brady announced that decision in an emotional video which he shared on Wednesday morning. The decision comes just a couple weeks after his Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

“Good morning, guys,” Brady said in the video. “I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring … for good.
“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I just figured I press record and let you guys know first. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year. So, really thank you guys so much. To every single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors … I could go on forever. There’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.”
This is the 2nd consecutive offseason that Brady has announced his retirement. However, he ultimately chose to return to the Buccaneers for 1 final season in 2022-23. Tampa Bay won its division as Brady threw for 4,694 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Brady, 45, retires as arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history. He won 7 Super Bowls, 3 MVP awards and featured in 15 Pro Bowls. He also departs with 89,214 passing yards and 649 passing touchdowns.
