Tony Vitello names Tennessee’s starting pitcher for first game in College World Series

Chad Dallas will get the first start for Tennessee in the 2021 College World Series.
During a Friday appearance on FOX Sports Radio’s “The Drive,” Vitello announced that Dallas will take the mound when Tennessee faces Virginia. UT and UVA open the two-game Sunday slate, a game set to air at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN. This year’s CWS opens with two games (Stanford-NC State, Vanderbilt-Arizona) on Saturday.
Tennessee’s Friday night starter during the season, Dallas enters the game with an 11-1 record in the 2021 campaign. Dallas has pitched 96.2 innings, posting an ERA of 4.10 with 118 strikeouts, 87 hits and 19 walks. Last time out, Dallas posted a season-high 12 Ks over 6 innings in Tennessee’s 4-2 win over LSU in Game 1 of the Knoxville Super Regional.
This season, Dallas was named NCBWA Third Team All-American and ABCA/Rawlings Southeast All-Region First Team.
